There are three main search-types used on BlackAndWhiteSingles. These are:

Editor's Verdict:

BlackAndWhiteSingle.com has a lot of surprises up its sleeves. At first glance it looks like most other sites but beneath its casual surface are some great, unique features.

The basic, FREE sign up should not be scoffed at. It offers the ability to send and receive pre-written messages to express your interest, use all search functions (except Travel-connect searching) and to examine any profiles, regardless of whether other members are VIPs or not. This having been said, the VIP upgrade really is something special. Let's look at just a couple of the main upgrade features...

One excellent VIP feature on Black And White Singles is the Travel-connect search. This search allows you to look for members who are willing to let you stay with them, show you around their city or are looking for long distance relationships (or to move to another area). This feature seems to work simply but effectively and is something which we think other sites might want to consider adding. Of course you should always be cautious when visiting people, making sure you know them well enough to trust them, as the FAQ section indicates. This is a feature which just can't be ignored.

Other features which make the VIP upgrade worth considering include video messaging and personality profiling, which allow you to personalise your profile and messages to a much more impressive degree, drastically improving your chances of dating success.

Our basic searches presented us with nearly one thousand matches (though admittedly we aren't as picky as some!), which was an impressive number to receive. Most of these matches had photographs, which made the result even more positive. (We're a little shallow at times!) This is a positive and promising aspect to a search because it shows that plenty of people are signed up to the site and that plenty of them have taken the time to make their page a little different and more noticeable to catch your eye.

The member Services page shows you a good amount of information regarding your login details, favorite members and your photos. We were also impressed to see a slide-show of members' pictures which offered a nicely random option to searching for dates.

There are a few minor drawbacks to the site, though nothing we felt was really terrible. At times, for example, the options lists (when filling out your profile details) were in reverse alphabetical order. Why?! This just confused us and didn't seem to serve much of a purpose. There's also no "any" option when selecting which race you'd prefer to search for, it only offers "black", "white" or "biracial".

What really blew our metaphoric socks off with BlackAndWhiteSingles was the price. Although the one month upgrade to VIP status wasn't the best deal out there, the 1 year option ($47.88 for the year, $3.99 a month) is really excellent value for money considering the features you gain from upgrading.

BlackAndWhiteSingles is an often overlooked interracial dating website which we feel is well worth an exploration. Its FREE membership offers enough of a taster for your to bite your teeth into the delicious VIP membership options, and at that price who can argue?!
